Why Sports Betting Is A long Shot In the Lone Star State
The Dallas Cowboys have announced that left tackle Tyron Smith may be returning to the field on Thanksgiving when the Cowboys take on the LA Chargers.
Smith has been out the last two games due to a myriad of issues, including a groin injury and problems with his back and hips. In his absence, the Cowboys lost both of these matchups by a combined total of 64-16. QB Dak Prescott has been sacked 12 times in the last 2 weeks with replacement blockers on the field, whereas he was only being sacked 1.3 times per game with Smith on the active roster.
The All-Pro offensive tackle was a limited participant in the walkthrough on Monday but expects to be ready to play on Thursday. The offensive line play by replacements Chaz Green and Byron Bell will not stand a chance against the LA Chargers’ dynamic pass-rushing duo that is Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa.
The return of fourth-year veteran will give the Cowboys the strength they need to last in the playoff race. Star linebacker Sean Lee has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, but during an interview, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones mentioned that linebacker Anthony Hitchens (groin) and kicker Dan Bailey (groin) may also return to play on Thanksgiving.
Cowboys at Chargers Betting Odds
The LA Chargers vs Dallas Cowboys matchup has opened as a pick ‘em game at online sportsbooks. This just means that neither team is particularly favored over the other. The Dallas Cowboys are 5-5 this season and are 2-3 ATS at home. The Chargers are 4-6 straight up and are 2-3 against the spread on the road.
The game total for Chargers vs Cowboys is 48-points, with the over 5-0 in the last five Week 12 games for Dallas. Aside from the Chargers putting up 54 points against the Buffalo Bills last week, LA has not scored more than 27 points in a game this season. Dallas has scored an average of 24.2 points per game in their last 10.
Keep in mind that the Cowboys finished their last two games 27-7 and 37-9 without several key players. Though Smith may return on Thursday, the team is still without Ezekiel Elliot as he continues his 6-game suspension. It could be a smart bet to lean toward the under on this one, but you can see how the Chargers vs Cowboys game plays out on Thursday, Nov. 23rd at 4:30 PM ET on CBS.
